Why Law Firm Masterminds Only Get You So Far

I have been in some of the best masterminds around. These include law firm specific masterminds like Ben Glass’ Great Legal Marketing, deep dive business masterminds like Keith Cunningham’s Board of Directors, and marketing focused masterminds including Dan Kennedy’s Marketing Mastermind with Dave Dee.

I have also been a part of high-level elite law firms which created their own smaller groups to meet regularly. All fantastic groups. They served their purpose for me at the time. Getting together in a group can be extremely helpful for motivation and for learning new ideas.

But I discovered that at some point, my gains from a mastermind became limited. At some point in time, it comes down to executing every day, day in and day out, in your own firm.

Years ago, I had dinner with Lee Rosen here in New Orleans. I asked him about the tools and technology he used in his company. I kept hoping he would mention a special 'purple pill' that I didn't know about.

Instead, he said what I should have already known was true. He said, “you have all the knowledge you need; it’s now about executing.”

Counsel Advisory aims to solve the limitation of a law firm mastermind. If sitting in a group setting being told about all the improvements you can make to your firm simply makes you feel more stressed, not more successful, then maybe new ideas are not the problem.

If you’re less interested in hearing about all the cool stuff other firms are doing to improve their firms, and more interested in actually improving your firm, maybe a mastermind is not for you. Let’s talk and see if we can improve your firm together.
